A New Roof for Meghan and Enrique’s Gigantic Queen Anne
The bird’s-eye view will blow you away!
As seen on episode 2 of our HGTV show
Who’s Afraid of a Cheap Old House?
The house was stunning with original c. 1885 details inside and out! The roof, however, was tragic! Massively deferred maintenance had left this house vulnerable, something we had to address as part of our overall restoration and renovation plan for Meghan and Enrique.
Working with CertainTeed, we knew we could achieve a high-quality, long-lasting final result in a style that was sensitive to the architectural spirit of the house — the product line is called Landmark® PRO, after all! But which color to choose?
Having hit it out of the park with his exterior color plan for the house, we consulted with our dear friend Scott Reed (you might know, and love, him as @savingoldhouses) and were immediately in agreement: Weathered Wood! The variations of browns and grey would complement the greens and pink accent of the house and trim.
Next up: Clapper Construction, of Otego, NY, who descended upon the house in the most incredible way with a huge team of expert roofers who went from level to level, roof plane to roof plane, to assess the degree of replacement needed. Then, they used the CertainTeed system to button up Enrique and Meghan’s roof for years to come! We are endlessly grateful to Clapper Construction and CertainTeed for coming on this cheap old house journey with us, and making such an impact in this family’s life.
Oh! And a special shout out to the landscape pros at George’s Market & Nursery, of Lathan, NY, who undertook the incredibly careful work of taming risky trees leaning too close for comfort towards the house.
Truly, the dream team!
